Are you trying to win new clients? If so, it’s important to make a great first impression as they visit your commercial premises. Did you know that clients often make up their minds about working with you within the first few minutes of meeting you? Here are a few tips on how to make a great first impression with clients:

Offer a Clean and Safe Parking Lot

Firstly, ensure that your parking lot is clean and free of debris. If it’s full of trash, it will give clients the impression that you don’t care about your property. Secondly, make sure that the parking lot is safe. This means fixing any potholes and removing any obstacles that could cause someone to trip and fall. If it has recently snowed, make an effort to clear the parking lot so that clients don’t have to worry about slipping and falling.

    Greet Clients Promptly

When clients arrive, they should be greeted promptly by someone on your team. This first interaction will set the tone for the rest of their experience, so it’s important to make sure that they feel welcome and appreciated from the start. Thank them for coming in and let them know that you’re happy to help them with whatever they need. If they have an appointment and you aren’t ready, welcome them and let them know you’ll be with them shortly (this is much better than leaving them alone in the reception area!).

    Make Small Talk

Small talk might not come naturally to everyone, but it’s important to make an effort to connect with the clients on a personal level. Ask them about their day, how their week is going, or if they’re looking forward to anything in particular. If you can build a rapport with clients, they’ll be more likely to trust and value your opinion.

If you don’t have team members available for this, offer some magazines and a comfortable chair/sofa in the reception area for them to wait.

    Be Punctual

This one should be a no-brainer, but it’s worth repeating. If you’re meeting with clients, make sure you’re on time (or even early). This shows that you respect their time and are organized enough to be punctual. If you’re running late, make sure to call ahead and let them know. Otherwise, they may think you don’t value their time.

    Dress for Success

Your clothing choices send a message about who you are, so it’s important to dress appropriately for meetings with clients. If you’re not sure what the dress code is, err on the side of being more formal rather than less. You can always take off a jacket or tie if you get too warm, but it’s hard to add layers once you’re already dressed.

    Add High-Quality Furniture

As well as the aforementioned chairs and sofas, try stylish reception desks to catch the eye and make a good first impression. With the right desk, all those who enter the building will see that you mean business. Especially when you ask people to wait in the reception area, they will notice while looking around.

When discussing the reception area, don’t forget the all-important finishing touches such as fresh flowers, magazines, and a water cooler.

    Do Your Research

Finally, don’t make clients explain everything to you. Do your research before the meeting so that you can ask more meaningful questions and make conversation about things that they’re passionate about. If they’ve provided details about themselves before the meeting, take note at the time so you can refer back during all future meetings.
